TCD RDO "The Expert View: NIH Funding for International Researchers"
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is an umbrella organization for 27 Institutes/Centres that cover all areas of biomedical research. It is the largest funder of health research globally: between 80-90% of its c. $46 billion annual budget is used to support external research grant funding. Many grant opportunities are open to foreign researchers as both direct award and subaward recipients, but a general unfamiliarity with the application and review process, inexperience with US Federal compliance, and challenges with managing these awards as foreign recipients have all contributed to its underrepresentation in research funding portfolios outside of the US. Sarah Scharf, from the NIH’s International Fogarty Center, will be joining us for this one-off collaborative event to discuss the NIH as an organisation, and the opportunities available to international researchers. The session will also include an expert panel of NIH funding recipients for a Q&A session that will follow. In person Event Date: Tuesday, 14th May 2024 Time: 10 -12 am Venue: Trinity College Regent House Booking is essential, limited spots available.
