Supporting Women’s Success in Academia

Despite some advances, the gender difference is still a prominent topic in academia and STEM areas. Anti-discrimination policies exist, but women and minority groups remain vastly underrepresented in higher education. In particular, the under-representation of women in senior academic positions is and remains a prevalent trend in the third level sector. In WIRI, we believe and strive for institutions to adopt a more equal and socially just academic climate. This event, will examine the intersection of multiple inequalities with a specific focus on gender, age, ethnicity, and disability and open the invitation for dialogue around what it means for women to have success in higher education, challenges in career progression, strategies successfully applied in practice and the promotion of gender equality in higher education.
