Trinity Spirituality Research and Innovation Group Seminar Series 2024: 'Revisioning Spiritual Healthcare' Seminar 4: Spiritual sensitivity - is it the nurses’ strength? Presented by Dr Beata Dobrowolska, Associate Professor in Health Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences, Medical University of Lublin Chaired by Prof Jacqueline Whelan, TCD School of Nursing and Midwifery Spirituality and spiritual care are phenomena that are being rediscovered and redefined today, not only in the context of nursing practice. However, from the very beginning, spiritual care has been seen as a vital component of holistic nursing care of the patient and an important factor influencing quality of care. We expect nurses to develop their competences to provide spiritual care, as well as to develop their spiritual sensitivity. This is meaningful not only for the spiritual care provided by nurses to their patients, but also for themselves, as internal resource for coping with difficult situations and kind of strategy of self-care. During this presentation we will discuss interrelation between spiritual sensitivity of nurse professionals and different strategies to strengthen their resilience in the face of various symptoms of health care system flaws Please note that this seminar will be recorded and later published online.
