Screening: The Story of One Crime
The Story of One Crime tells the story of the Ulma family, Józef and Wiktoria and their seven children, who sacrificed their lives in an attempt to save two Jewish families during the Holocaust. The director focuses on the lack of punishment for Lt. Eilert Diecken, who was responsible for carrying out this crime. He meets his daughter, who knows nothing about her father's role during World War II. He talks to members of the Ulma family and to the rescued Abraham Segal - a Jew from Markowa. This screening is made possible by the Embassy of Poland in Ireland. It is in honour of Holocaust Memorial Day (27/01/2024) and the 80th anniversary of the death of the Ulma family (24/03/2024), and the decision of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland to establish the year 2024 as the year of the Ulma family.
