Rethinking Growth: Towards a Wellbeing Economy for Ireland!
This event aims to bring together people from across the political spectrum, policymakers, practitioners, thought leaders and civil society from all around the island, North and South. Participants will: > reimagine the concept and role of economic growth > explore current economic, social and environmental challenges being faced in both jurisdictions > build better foundations for a 'wellbeing economy' - an economy that enables people and nature to flourish throughout the island of Ireland Read more about this event here: https://rethinking-growth.ie/ This event is organised by the Wellbeing Economy Alliance Hub of Ireland, or WeAll Ireland for short. WeAll is made up of Foundation for the Economics of Sustainability (Feasta), the European Health Futures Forum (EHFF), Social Justice Ireland, Cultivate: The Sustainable Ireland Cooperative, the Playhouse Theatre in Derry/Londonderry, and individuals including Peter Doran of Queen’s University School of Law in Northern Ireland. WeAll aims to: > Shift popular narratives around the purpose of our economy > Synthesise, disseminate and empower knowledge and evidence about what a ‘wellbeing economy’ looks like and how we can embed its principles and practices at all levels of governance and societal systems > Galvanise an island-wide and inclusive platform through a creative intergenerational/intercultural dialogue while engaging with a global network of peers > Draw on the island’s unique cultural, linguistic, intellectual and ecological resources to inspire ‘wellbeing economy’ narratives in support of local and global responsibility for re-embedding our lives, livelihoods and systems within the social and ecological space defined by the ‘planetary boundaries’.
