Film Screening: "She's In Jail" 幸彤在監獄 Documentary of Hong Kong Activist Chow Hang Tung Come join us on 12th June for a thought-provoking evening as we screen the film documentary "She's In Jail" 幸彤在監獄, about the Hong Kong activist Chow Hang Tung, in commemoration of the 5th anniversary of the 2019 Hong Kong protests. This film follows the story of Hong Kong activist Chow Hang Tung and her fight for democracy. Witness her courage and determination on the big screen. Don't miss this opportunity to be inspired and informed. Chow Hang Tung is a Hong Kong barrister, labour and democratic movement activist, and vice chairperson of the Hong Kong Alliance of Patriotic and Democratic Movement in China ("the Hong Kong Alliance"). Chow Hang Tung was awarded 5 international human rights prizes in 2023 in recognition of her steadfast spirit and sacrifice in safeguarding democracy and human rights of Hong Kong and China. Since 2021, Chow Hang Tung was repeatedly arrested due to her Hong Kong Alliance leadership as well as June 4th commemorative activities. She has been indicted for subversion of the state of China under the Chinese constitution, and has been incarcerated since September 2021. Despite her incarceration, she continues to battle despotism and enkindles the hope of democracy, human rights and rule of law. This documentary film is dedicated to Chow Hang Tung and the campaign she represents. This screening will take place at the Thomas Davis theatre in the Arts' Building ("Arts' Block") in Trinity College Dublin. Admission is free. Screening will start promptly at 5:05pm, so please come early and be seated.
