Famine Worlds: Life at the Edge of Suffering in Lebanon's Great War
Join Tylor Brand and Cormac Ó Gráda for the Dublin launch of Famine Worlds: Life at the Edge of Suffering in Lebanon's Great War (Stanford University Press, 2023), organised by the Department of Near and Middle Eastern Studies. Famine Worlds details the challenges and tragedies of everyday life in World War I Lebanon. More than simply a chronicle of the Lebanese Famine, the book offers a profound meditation on what it means to live through times of intense trauma, and how disaster can shape the character of a society. This event will take place in person, and also through Zoom. You can access the Zoom meeting by clicking here.
