'Borrowing from theatre to lower the focus' workshop
Health is so focused on blood pressure, but what about social pressure? Do we pay enough attention in our classes, societies, sports clubs and groups to the social pressure of turning up and participating. Do we leave some behind by not considering people’s interactions and experiences.
Chrissie Poulter, from Trinity’s Creative Arts School and author of Playing the Game, who specialises in guardianship in group work will run a 50 minute workshop in partnership with the Disability Service and College Health.
Date:
Thursday 14th, 1-1.50pm
Aim:To support people who run classes, groups, societies, sports clubs and workshops to develop their understanding and techniques for engaging those who feel social pressure.
Format:A workshop incorporating practical reflection using theatre strategies for group work. To Book, click HERE.
Chrissie Poulter Bio: Chrissie is an adjunct assistant professor in the School of Drama. She specialises in the application of theatre techniques in non-theatre contexts and communities. Her work with theatre workshop techniques centres around the creation of safe spaces in which to express oneself and encounter others - the encounter and expression may be facilitated through theatre techniques but often take place within non-theatre "communities" and contexts. She has developed training models to enable a range of professionals to use this in their own practice.
