Benchmarking Business & Human Rights in Ireland

Date: You need to load the T4EventsCalendar Class 17 Jan 2024
Time: 17:00 - 18:00

In the 'Benchmarking Business & Human Rights in Ireland 2023' report, 50 of the largest publicly listed companies operating in Ireland and 10 of the largest semi-states are assessed using the internationally recognised Corporate Human Rights Benchmark methodology.  The benchmark examines firms’ human rights policies, due diligence and access to remedies based on publicly available documents produced by the companies, providing a transparent measure of a firm’s disclosure of their approach to Human Rights.  Investors, consumers, and policy-makers are increasingly focused on this issue and a low score - indicating a lack of relevant information – means that these audiences cannot make informed decisions and society at large remains in the dark about a company’s intentions and impact. We will officially launch the benchmarking report, and a new TBS Executive Education ‘micro-credential’, (to be delivered jointly by Trinity CSI and Global Business Initiative for BHR), on January 17th, 2024, in Trinity Business School, with a view to raising awareness about the UN Guiding Principles for Business & Human Rights (UNGPs) and the state of Irish companies’ engagement with these.
