Below are a list of supports available to TCD students. If you are in an emergency situation, please contact relevant emergency services.

Student Counselling Services

The Student Counselling Services offers free, confidential and non-judgemental support to all students of Trinity College Dublin who are experiencing personal and/or academic concerns. Their team of qualified counsellors and learning strategists are committed to promoting and protecting wellbeing and success throughout a diverse student body. No matter who you are, no matter what your situation is, the Student Counselling Service is here to support you through your difficulties

Campus Security

Our Security Services team provide a 24 hour service on the main university Campus. They are responsible for:

  • General security on Campus
  • Conducting mobile and foot patrols on Campus - by day and night
  • Manning certain perimeter gates
  • Monitoring the CCTV system and alarm systems
  • Responding to emergencies
  • Supporting special events on Campus

Residential Supports

The Assistant Junior Dean Team provides support for students who live on the main college campus. The Assistant Warden Team in Halls provides supports for students who live in Trinity Hall accommodation in Rathmines.

College Health Services

The College Health Service is a fully trained, practicing team of doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals. There is no charge for student consultations in the service, and there are emergency appointments available every day. As well as general practice, there are specialised clinics available including contraceptive advice and STI testing. There is also a Psychiatrist in the service.

TCDSU Welfare Officer

The Welfare Officer can help you with in times of mental, emotional or physical support. You can also get small Welfare loan or free condoms from the Welfare Officer. The welfare officer can also get you set up with other supports, and attend meetings with different members of the college administration with you.

Further Supports

Trinity Disability Services The TCD Disability Service offers advice, support and information to help students and staff with disabilities. Trinity is an inclusive university with more than 1,800 students with disabilities who have applied for reasonable accommodations with the Disability Service. The Disabiliy service offers a confidential and accessible service for all students with disabilities to support your learning needs during your time in Trinity. Chaplaincy All the Chaplains are available to help and serve you during your time in Trinity. The Chaplaincy seeks to be a place of welcome and hospitality for all members of the University community. They will be glad to assist you any way that they can and you will always find a friendly listening ear. Global Room Managed by the International Student Liaison Officer and supported by a team of Global Ambassadors, the Global Room team provides guidance and support to international students on a wide range of issues including immigration, accommodation and all aspects of life at Trinity. Tutor Service Every undergraduate of the college is assigned a Tutor when they start college. You can contact your Tutor whenever you have a question or are worried or concerned about any aspect of College life or your personal life, in particular if it is affecting your academic work. Postgraduate Advisory Services The Postgraduate Advisory Service provides support on any matter that may impact upon your time as a postgraduate in TCD. Student2Student Peer Support Peer Support is all about one student listening to another student and providing information and support when necessary. Peer Supporters are available for any student in the College and are there for anything you might want to talk through with them Equality Office The Equality Unit promotes equality for staff and students in all areas of university life. It works to ensure that students and staff enjoy a respectful and non-discriminatory study, work and social environment. Nursery Provides for the care of children of staff and students from 3 months to 4½ years of age. Student Learning and Development Student Learning Development supports Trinity students reach their academic potential. They offer a range of services including individual appointments, workshops and skills events.
