About this Event
This course, delivered by Trinity School of English staff, will provide an introduction to major authors of poetry, drama and prose through close examination of selected texts, chosen from among those prescribed for the Leaving Certificate. The course will be of special interest to teachers and pupils preparing for the examination but the lectures will be directed towards a more general audience as well.
Fee
€50 for the entire series. Individual lectures are €5 each. Concessionary rates for the full series will be €40 or individual lecture €4 each. The concessionary rate applies to: students, OAPs, unemployed, groups of 20+; TCD staff and Graduates.

Tuesdays 19:00-20:00 Edmund Burke Theatre, Arts Building, Trinity College Dublin. Tickets available via Eventbrite and at the door each evening.

There will be ten weekly lectures beginning on Tuesday 3rd October 2023. Registration for individual lectures will close at 6pm on the relevant day.

24th October - READING WEEK – No lecture
31st October - Dr. Clare Clarke: Mary Shelley, Frankenstein
7th November - Prof. Nicholas Grene: Brian Friel's drama Philadelphia, Here I Come!
14th November - Prof. Jarlath Killeen: George Eliot, Silas Marner
21st November - Prof. Stephen Matterson: Poetry by Emily Dickinson
28th November - Dr. Tom Walker: Poetry by Paula Meehan
5th December - Dr. Seán Hewitt: Poetry by Gerard Manley Hopkins
12th December - Dr. Amy Prendergast: Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice
