Biography

Heather Doyle is the Irish Second-Level Students’ Union Education Officer for 2023/2024. Founded in August 2008, the ISSU is the national representative body for second-level students in the Republic of Ireland. The ISSU is by students, for students being led by the Coiste Gnó na nDaltaí or National Student Executive. Over 600 post-primary schools student councils are members of the ISSU and these students elect our officers yearly. The motto of the ISSU is to uplift, defend and represent student voice while aiming to foster a stronger student voice at all levels of the education system, and works to ensure students are equal stakeholders in their education by being involved in all matters that directly affect them. Previously, Heather served as the Union’s Leas-Uachtarán (Deputy President) and as Tipperary Regional Officer. She has been involved in the realm of Education Policy for the past 3 years and has a passion for developing a student centred education system while moving towards a more continuous assessment model of examination. Currently, as Education Officer Heather sits on the Department of Education Senior Cycle Redevelopment Partners Forum, researches and organises consultations with grassroots students on a regular basis, and lastly, creates resources for students to make their everyday school life easier. Heather is also a full-time student currently in fifth year attending Loreto Secondary School in Clonmel Co. Tipperary.
