History of collaboration

Staff from HSE Community Healthcare Dublin South, Kildare & West Wicklow Public Health Nursing Services signed the Research Agreement with TCPHI in March 2019:

Thus, a partnership research capacity building program was established between HSE Community Healthcare Dublin South, Kildare & West Wicklow Public Health Nursing Services and the Trinity Centre for Practice & Healthcare Innovation (TCPHI), School of Nursing and Midwifery. A Steering Committee was established and will meet regularly to oversee the collaboration.  Members will include in the Director of Public Health Nursing, along with the staff from the School of Nursing & Midwifery Dr Gobnait Byrne, Prof Anne-Marie Brady, Dr Maria Brenner, Dr Louise Daly and Dr Margaret McCann.

Funder

Currently, this partnership is being funded by the Nursing and Midwifery Planning and Development Unit (NMPDU). The project aims to enhance and develop the research skills and output of nurses and in so doing improve service user care, outcomes and the implementation of evidence informed practice across the service.

Healthcare Researcher

Dr David Joyce is the Research Fellow and Dr Gobnait Byrne is the Principal Investigator (PI). The primary aim of the role of the researcher is to support and advance TCPHI-HSE Community Healthcare Dublin South, Kildare & West Wicklow Public Health Nursing Services collaborative research with the purpose of developing high-quality nurse-led research that improves practice and patient care.

Title: COPD and COVID
Research Question: To understand the lived experience of people with COPD in the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Title: COVID Pandemic and Public Health Nursing Service
Research Question: Learning from the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the role and function of Public Health Nurses and Community Registered General Nurses; impacts, experiences and recommendations.
