Deaf women’s experiences of the maternity services in Ireland
This project, funded by Reach Deaf Services, explored deaf women’s experiences of the maternity services in Ireland. Fifteen deaf women aged 18 years and over were interviewed in Irish Sign Language (ISL) in early 2024. The key themes identified from women’s experiences were used as ‘scripts and story-boards’ for the production of eight videos and video clips in ISL, with sub-titles.
As part of the study, ISL was integrated into the 16 audio and video resources in our Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on Women’s Health After Mothered (WHAM)
