Are you interested in sharing you experiences of consent to medical interventions during pregnancy?

The CONTENT Study (Consent for Medically Indicated Interventions in Childbirth) is now recruiting women.
You can indicate your interest in participation, or direct you questions to Dr Susan Hannon
This research project aims to explore if the legal requirements for informed and voluntary consent to birth interventions are being met in Irish maternity practice.
This first phase of the research aims to recruit women who have given birth in Ireland within the past 12 months for short online interviews, to explore their experiences of informed & voluntary consent to medical interventions in late pregnancy (36+ weeks), during childbirth, and/or immediately after birth.
If you:
- Are 18 years or older
- Have given birth in Ireland within the past 12 months
- Experienced a medical intervention
- Were NOT under the care of a high-risk clinic during pregnancy.
We would value hearing about your experience.
Participation involves a one-to-one online interview with a member of the research team, lasting around 20 minutes, at a time that suits you.
We want to know about:
The information you received about choices in relation to issues such as
- place of birth,
- mode of birth (for example caesarean section or instrumental birth),
- medications during labour,
- induction of labour,
- episiotomy and vaginal examinations.
And your views on
- whether your choices were supported,
- what works well in supporting women’s choices, and
- what can be improved.
