Bridging Research & Practice – Women’s Health and Wellbeing

To mark the International Day of Action for Women's Health 2025, this webinar brought together researchers, practitioners, and advocates to explore the unique health and wellbeing challenges faced by women with intellectual disabilities.

Held on Thursday, 29th May 2025, this session offered a platform to share current research, frontline experiences, and practical strategies aimed at improving care and support. Topics discussed include bone health, menopause, obesity, social determinants of health, loneliness, and mental health. We were honoured to be joined by a panel of expert speakers from across academia and health services, highlighting both lived experience and emerging insights from the field.

Our speakers included Prof. Éilish Burke, Dr. Judy Ryan,Dr. Fidelma Flannery, Dr. Kálya Lima, Anne Power, Carmel Erksine, Stephanie Corrigan, Niamh Carberry, Angela Colgan, Monika Carter, Lisa McGuiness, and Kelly Fitzgerald. Their collective insights offered a powerful and inclusive perspective on the intersection of intellectual disability and women’s health.
