My name is Denise Breslin and I’m from Knockmore just outside Ballina in Co. Mayo.

I have been involved in the Mayo Self Advocacy group for a number of years and more recently the Inclusive Research Network through which this opportunity came about to contribute to the Digi-ID project.

I use a smart phone and recently upgraded to a new one, and really this was my lifeline last year when we were in the first lock down due to Covid 19 and unable to connect to people face to face in my usual day to day routine.

I use WhatsApp and I am on Facebook which I enjoy.

I am now a regular Zoom user, taking part in meetings and connecting with others whom I cannot yet meet up with.

I also enjoy photography and use the camera on my smart phone to take picture of my many projects for example: gardening, art and textiles.

Over the last few months I participated in making an educational video about Covid 19 through the Mayo Self Advocacy group this was made with a well known film-maker Gillian Marsh. Initially she was to film with her assistant in person but due to the lock down at the beginning of this year we had to be more creative and do the filming ourselves, get it sent to the film-maker through Drop-Box. They were then able to edit it and to get the final cut. This video is now available to view on You Tube and Instagram https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0b_UtEpYrA

I have also been involved in other film projects over many years with a group in Ballina, called Scannan Technology both in front of camera and behind the camera using the equipment.  “Tom and Mary” and “Silent  Moves” are some of the films I’ve participated in and  which have won awards , you can view these on You Tube also.

I am very pleased to be involved in this Digi-ID project and to be able to contribute in any way I can.

I look forward to speaking to all involved.
