Strategic Reviews

windfarmRationale

Since we cannot experimentally address all the sectors that have been identified as important in affecting Irish biodiversity (in the NDP and BKP) in the work packages 1 to 3 , we address the impacts of remaining sectors using a desk-based approach. In some cases, we update existing reviews in the light of recent developments in the industry and new insight into environmental impacts and mitigation strategy. In others, we conduct state-of-the-art in-depth reviews, covering the broad scope of sectors (e.g. tourism, sustainable energy generation, waste management etc.). We collate and review existing information and assess its relevance to the Irish context. Importantly, we bring together researchers, policymakers, managers, international experts and stakeholders to discuss and agree a set of recommendations for future research to address any key gaps identified.
