Trinity East
Originally constructed as an IDA Enterprise Centre, the Trinity East campus is being redeveloped as a site for research, innovation, cultural practice and collaboration.
Trinity East is already home to the Lir Academy of Dramatic Art, the Advanced Microscopy and Variable Atmospheric Light laboratories, the Trinity Quantum Alliance, Portal@Grand Canal Dock, and Unit18 – Trinity’s first physical space dedicated to civic and community engagement – as well as researchers from Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Physics and Zoology. As more space is upgraded, Trinity East will support researchers from all faculties to collaborate with co-located entrepreneurs, industry partners, cultural practitioners and community groups on issues fundamental to ensuring a liveable planet.
The redevelopment of the campus is being undertaken in a sustainable way – adopting a repair-and-refurbish first approach to upgrading the buildings and increasing the biodiversity value of the external spaces. The aim is to open access to what has been underused city spaces and progress incrementally in line with the funding available.
