Trinity College Dublin: All Campuses Masterplan

The Trinity College Dublin: All Campuses Masterplan, will deliver a framework to reinvigorate our estate to ensure it meets the needs of Ireland’s leading research-intensive University now and into the future.

The ‘masterplan’ is being developed to support the new Trinity Strategic Plan, and it will identify how our estate should evolve to best support teaching and learning, research, and innovation. It will identify how our campus and the spaces within can provide a supportive and dynamic student experience and facilitate a thriving workplace.

The masterplan will also determine how we meet our decarbonisation targets, help address the biodiversity crisis, develop our campus in a nature positive way and adapt to a changing climate.

How our estate interacts with the wider city and neighbouring communities will also be a focus, including transportation, and we will engage with key external stakeholders in this important area.

Aligned with the Trinity Strategic Plan, the masterplan is focusing on Purpose, People, and Place. The project is being guided by four high-level principles:

  1. Support academic objectives
  2. Embed our values
  3. Entire campus approach
  4. Sustainable and nature positive

Allies and Morrison have been appointed as the lead in a multi-disciplinary design team to support the development of the masterplan. We are currently at the initial ‘understand’ phase in what is a three-phase process as detailed in the graphic below. We are undertaking an extensive engagement process, meeting with senior leadership, School Executives and other student and staff groups.
