Dr Conor Daly, School of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies, provides expert comment in this article on the donation by the Government of Ireland of Irish Defence Forces vehicles and de-mining robots to the Ukrainian army, saying it will contribute significantly to de-mining capabilities in Ukraine and to the country's ability to defend itself and remain a free and independent state. Professor Daniel Geary, School of Histories and Humanities, writes about the origins of 'blackface" and its use by Irish Americans in the past, in an opinion piece in the Irish Times, following the news that Social Democrats TD Eoin Hayes wore blackface to a party in 2009.
