Professor Michael Gallagher, Fellow Emeritus, School of Social Sciences and Philosophy, has written an opinion piece on the number of candidates in the forthcoming presidential election that states that while claims of democracy being undermined are hyperbolic, there is reason for discomfort with the rules as they stand. Professor Patrick Geoghegan, School of Histories and Humanities, wrote an obituary on the life and career of Martin Mansergh, who died recently, describing him as an ‘honourable man, deeply committed to public service, he helped find new ways of advancing the great cause of peace and reconciliation on this island’. Dr Bronagh Ann McShane, School of Histories and Humanities and Trinity Long Room Hub, has written an article on the new Benedictine monastery for women saying that the ‘story of Connemara’s Benedictine sisters is one of exile, endurance and resilience’. Professor Rachel Moss, School of Histories and Humanities, provides expert comment in an article on the origins of the Book of Kells which feature in a new book by Victoria Whitworth in the Guardian 26 September 2025: New research may rewrite origins of the Book of Kells, says academic.

 

Dr Barra Roantree, School of Social Sciences and Philosophy, has written an article about the forthcoming budget saying that the Government risks losing control of spending as it tries to do everything, everywhere, all at once. Trinity Business School has published a written history of its origins as part of a year-long programme of events to mark the school’s 100th anniversary.
