Workshop description:

Designed as a Train-the-Trainer workshop, this workshop aims to equip participants with practical skills to lead workshops likely to raise learner' environmental awareness, and to develop competencies related to futures/ anticipatory thinking.

The award winning [see press release at: https://lnkd.in/eARsrmWJ] Future of Elements Awareness Games series comprises four distinct foresight-based games made available, freely, by Amber. These open-ended games prioritise raising global environmental awareness and democratising foresight through interactive gameplay.

Each of the four games uses a different design as follows:

  1. The Future of Water game employs speculative design to explore emerging water challenges and future artefacts.
  2. The Future of Earth game uses the Futures Triangle to analyze colonial legacies and ancestral knowledge.
  3. The Future of Fire game applies speculative fiction as narrative therapy to imagine alternative realities.
  4. The Future of Air game utilises critical design to provoke reflection on atmospheric issues.

The workshop begins with a short introduction to Future of Elements Awareness Games and opportunity to 'play' the Future of Water game. Facilitated discussion follows, enabling participants to explore how these games might be integrated into their teaching practices to foster future-oriented learning and critical engagement with environmental challenges.  Participants will be enabled to trial a second game, of their choice, during the workshop.
