Location: Room 3105, Arts Building, Trinity College Dublin.

The Cultures, Academic Values in Education (CAVE) research centre, based in the School of Education, would like to invite academic colleagues to a PhD supervision workshop, which will be facilitated by Prof Lynn McAlpine (McGill & Oxford Universities). It will be on the morning of 10 June 2025, in person and in Room 3105, Arts Building. Lunch will be provided.

Title: Things I do differently now: How the research on supervision changed my practices

Facilitator: Lynn McAlpine, Emerita Professor, University of Oxford

Abstract: "Perhaps like you, I began supervising with little preparation – often not sure about what I was doing. It was only when I began researching supervision (and developed a broad understanding of what we know about supervision) that I realized there was plentiful research evidence that could guide my own supervisory practice. In this workshop, I will draw on this large body of research as well as your experiences and concerns to generate strategies to enhance your individual (and collective) practice of supervision. By the end of the workshop, you will have some concrete goals to enhance your supervision."

How to register: Please register by completing the information sheet here. Lynn will draw on your answers to the questions in preparing the session. There is capacity for 30 attendees, and so a waitlist will be in operation.

This event is funded by the FAHSS Visiting Professors and Fellowships Benefaction Fund
