Free Online Courses with Futurelearn
Since 2014, Trinity College Dublin have partnered with Futurelearn to provide three Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs) in Irish History, Successful Ageing, and Exercise Prescription.

Irish Lives in War and Revolution:
31st October 2016
This course invites learners to explore the lives of men, women and children living through war and revolution and examined the political and social changes that made modern Ireland. By engaging with original sources, textual, visual and aural, and encountering contradictory viewpoints, participants learn about the contested nature of all history, and the challenges facing historians. Professor Ciaran Brady, Dr Anne Dolan and Dr Ciaran Wallace from Trinity’s School of Histories and Humanities lead the course which starts on the 31st of October 2016.
Strategies for Successful Ageing:
1st May 2017
How do you feel about ageing? What choices are you making to stay happy, healthy, socially-connected and active as you age? During this five-week course, distinguished academics and physicians at Trinity College Dublin will present world-leading research in successful ageing, which may challenge many of the assumptions you have about growing old. This course begins on the 1st of May 2017, and has been developed with Trinity's Center for Research in Ageing, with Professor Rose Anne Kenny leading the course.
Exercise Prescription for the Prevention and Treatment of Disease:
Next run TBC in 2017
In the last few decades physical exercise has become well established as a tool to prevent and treat disease. Perceptions within the healthcare sector of exercise and its prescription as a treatment have changed dramatically in recent years. In this free online course evidence of the role of exercise in the treatment of a variety of clinical populations including people with cardiovascular disease, mental health problems, paediatric conditions and cancer will be studied. The course is lead by Dr Cuisle Forde and Dr Aine Kelly from the Disciplines of Physiotherapy and Physiology, and the next run will be in 2017.

When are the courses held?
