Dr Matthew Saunders Sustainability Leadership Award
Dr. Matthew Saunders – Assistant Professor, Botany (School of Natural Sciences) awarded for Excellence in Research and Education.
Matt is internationally recognised for his research on the role of plants in the adaptation and mitigation of climate change, having published more than 100 articles on the topic. He leads a considerable research team, currently with 7 PhD students and 5 postdoctoral researchers here in Trinity. In addition, he has shown fantastic leadership of the Environmental Sciences moderatorship for the past 5 years. He has developed modules that have active environmental science problem solving interwoven throughout the curriculum, and engaged students directly with relevant practitioners. There’s no doubt that he has inspired the next generation of sustainability leaders.
