Introduction
The purpose of this website is to inform staff and students of the College's obligations to comply with copyright legislation, the principal Acts being the Copyright and Related Rights Acts 2000 and 2004. Copyright is a species of legal protection that applies to a number of categories of work, principally the 'artistic' categories of literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works, and categories of work which approximate to these traditional categories, such as computer programmes. The legislation also protects a range of rights relating to copyright, such as neighbouring rights, performers' rights and rights in performances, moral rights and the database right. The main focus of this website is the copying of teaching materials for educational purposes.
The College information available includes advice on compliance with the copyright legislation. Information is also provided on the College's Information Compliance Committee which oversees the compliance with Copyright legislation in Trinity.
Legislation and a Guide to the legislation provide the legislative context.
ICLA licence provides the terms of the educational licence agreement entered into by the College and the Irish Copyright Licensing Agency.
Useful links aims to provide a source of further information which may help to answer some of your questions.
