Dublin Ranked in Top Ten Best Student Cities in the World

Dublin has been named one of the best student cities in the world by the first global rankings of student cities published recently by QS. Only cities with populations of more than 250,000 and home to two or more ranked universities were analysed by researchers who took into consideration quality of living, affordability and reputation of the university amongst other indicators.
Speaking about the rankings Trinity’s Vice-Provost for Global Relations, Professor Jane Ohlmeyer said: “We at Trinity College Dublin are delighted that Dublin has been recognised as one of the best cities in the world to be a student. Situated in the heart of Dublin’s city centre, Trinity College Dublin is perfectly placed for students to not only benefit from a world class education at Ireland’s leading university, but also to take full advantage of the vibrant social scene and friendly atmosphere of one of Europe’s liveliest student hubs.”
2012 marked the first QS Best Student Cities Ranking which rated the top 50 cities on student mix, quality of living, employer activity and affordability. Public information, published surveys and data gathered in the production of the QS World University Rankings were combined to produce the scores. Dublin scored highly in both the student mix and quality of living categories and was ranked 8th in the world ahead of Barcelona, Singapore and New York.
