Alumni Interview

Colin Devlin – Musician

Name: Colin Devlin
Degree: TSM Italian and Classic Civilisation

What are you doing with yourself these days?
I've been on the slippery slope of Rock 'n' Roll for almost twenty years now, although I feel my time in Trinity was exceptionally good training for it, at least Friday afternoons/evenings at the Pav were anyway!

Why did you choose your current career?
It seemed like a good idea at the time...

How do you like to spend your free time?
I'm a huge movie buff, so I love going to the cinema, I'm based in LA now and have started to work on original film soundtrack scores which has been a lot of fun and challenging at the same time, not unlike college life.

What are your strongest memories of Trinity?
The great friendships I made there, being dragged into the adult world with great respect and dignity by the university, being infatuated by girls in the library that I was too shy to talk to at the time, but no regrets though right? And of course... the Trinity Ball!

Are you still in touch with other alumni?
Yes, I made some of my lifelong friends during my time in Trinity, I continue those friendships to the present day.

Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?
Doing a mature course at Trinity College?

Have you any advice for students or fellow alumni?
In the words of Viv Savage from the cult rock mocumentary Spinal Tap "Have a good time... all the time".
Over and Out.
