Gold Medals

GreekGold medals are awarded by the Board of Trinity College to candidates of the first class who have shown exceptional merit at degree examinations. The criteria for their award are set out in Criteria for Award of Gold Medals [pdf]. The relevant criteria should be incorporated into the examination regulations for each course.

" Gold medals and prizes
30 In the Senior Sophister year, at the moderatorship examination, gold medals are awarded by the Board to candidates of the first class who have shown exceptional merit. For details on the criteria for the award of gold medals see category 3 (pattern A) or category 5 (pattern B and C) in the Academic Registry guidelines available at: https://www.tcd.ie/academicregistry/exams. See GENERAL REGULATIONS AND INFORMATION ."

It is the responsibility of the Chair of the Court of Examiners to forward recommendations for the award of gold medals to the Senior Lecturer in accordance with the criteria applicable to the course(s) in question. The criteria applicable to TSM is as follows:

Category 3: TSM Pattern A

Category 5: TSM Pattern B & TSM Pattern C

Recommendations are considered by the Board of Trinity College at a meeting in the Michaelmas term. Successful candidates are informed of their award in writing by the Senior Lecturer.
