The Grattan Scholars
The School of Social Sciences and Philosophy developed a prestigious scholarship programme - The Grattan Scholars - with the aim of advancing high-quality social science research and teaching in Trinity. The programme supports exceptional PhD students who have the potential to become future academic leaders and influential voices for social and economic development.
Scholars are chosen not only for their academic achievements, but also for their commitment to teaching and ambition to understand and improve society through their research and education. Grattan Scholars also play a vital role in delivering high-quality and engaging teaching enriching the learning experience of our undergraduate students.
Thanks to generous support of Trinity's alumni and friends, Lisa Keenan joined Trinity's PhD in Political Science programme as a Grattan Scholar in 2013 where she researched a dissertation entitled 'The underrepresentation of women in political life: the case of the Republic of Ireland' under the supervision of Professor Gail McElroy.
