Taught Masters (MPhil):

The French Department contributes to five of the taught Masters offered by the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies (SLLCS). More information about the School’s Masters programmes can be found at the following links:

Research Masters (MLitt):

Prospective candidates may also apply for a research-only Masters in French Studies. A student registered for this degree carries out research over a period of one (mininum) to two (maximum) years, after which the candidate submits their thesis. Prospective candidates wishing to apply for an MLitt in the French Department should review the Department’s research areas, select a potential supervisor, and direct initial enquiries to the Head of Department, providing a full CV and a one to two page outline of the research project envisaged. Please note that candidates must have a first- or upper-second-class degree in French (or in the French component of their degree) to be considered for research in the Department.
