"It's so hard to forget pain, but it's even harder to remember sweetness. We have no scar to show for happiness. We learn so little from peace."

“How ageing creativity mirrors creative ageing”

Although collective ageing into later life is one of the greatest achievements of the 21st century, with a longevity dividend at human, cultural and economic levels, it is all too frequent to hear ageing described in negative terms such as 'a demographic timebomb'.

The complex, and to many counter-intuitive, concept of growth and development in later life is best captured by a metaphor, and the most potent metaphor is that of the flowering of late life creativity of great artists. This in turn facilitates a vision of growth and development in later life for all.

Fail Better Exhibition

fail better exhibition

A Free Exhibition of Beautiful, Heroic and Instructive Failures

The goal of FAIL BETTER is to open up a public conversation about failure, particularly the instructive role of failure, as it relates to very different areas of human endeavour. Rather than simply celebrating failure, which can come at great human, environmental and economic cost, we want to open up a debate on the role of failure in stimulating creativity: in learning, in science, engineering and design.
