Trinity students and alumni share their experiences stories

Is trinity the place for me?

For some people attending TCD is paramount to committing treason, but it nonetheless became the ultimate goal, medicine in Trinity. The people are incredibly friendly and welcoming and the facilities are amazing.
- Student from Longford.
For me Trinity was not only my first choice of university, but my only choice.
- Student from Cork.
Trinity was quite daunting at first especially when so many people in my area had complete misconceptions as to what Trinity is like. I was told that I was "posh" and that everyone in Trinity is "stuck-up". I have loved Trinity from day one, there is such a great atmosphere and the people are the same as everywhere else - lovely!
- Student from Kildare.
The transition from a small rural village to a city as diverse as Dublin was a daunting experience to say the least. It was a difficult decision to break away from the traditional route but undoubtedly the best I've ever made. Trinity has given me immeasurable opportunities both in the academic and extra-curricular sense.
- Student from Kerry.
As the time came to fill in my CAO form I was discouraged from putting Trinity as my first choice; "it's too posh", "No one there will be any fun". It is now almost four years later I can say that I am glad I didn't listen to the nay-sayers. My time in Trinity has been fantastic.
- Student from Offaly.
Before embarking on my journey as a student, I honestly believed TCD to be a place for the privileged, the wealthy and the 'nerds' of the country. I was sick with worry as I felt that someone with a strong northern accent and farming background would never make friends or be accepted in this college. Four years on, I have come to realise that Trinity is full of kind, friendly, open minded and caring individuals, students and lecturers who are willing to help and get to know you if you let them.
- Student from Donegal.
Trinity often feels like Hogwarts except the magic really happens here as it is full of opportunities for everyone to take. Unlike many colleges, diversity, in all shapes and forms is accepted and celebrated. It thrives inside the walls of this hidden paradise where people can come and should come to follow their dreams.
- Student from Donegal .
I am exceptionally glad that I took the proverbial leap and am now attending Ireland's finest university and am experiencing student life in Dublin.
- Student from Kerry .
I love the great opportunities that this distinguished institution has to offer.
- Student from Armagh.
Over the past year I have fallen in love with Trinity College and everything it has to offer. I understand the many concerns that perspective students may have as I was wary when first applying but I can say hand on heart that choosing to study physiotherapy here was the best decision of my life.
- Student from Cavan.
I believed a college like Trinity was too prestigious. Now that I have been accepted, all my biased views about the college have been eliminated. I am still in shock!
- Student from Leitrim.
Trinity is not “elitist” but that it is a fantastic community. I'd like to see students putting Trinity down as their first choice become the “norm”
- Student from Kildare .
I would like to put a stop to the misconceptions students have about Trinity. I am currently a 3rd Year and to this day still get the whole “Oh Trinity's full or snobs and really smart people”. I come from a normal country family.
- Student from Meath.
I must admit that before coming to Trinity I had the preconception that Gaelic sports would not be very significant in this college, if there were a GAA club at all. I was glad to find I was wrong and am looking forward to my 3rd year of playing football for Trinity.
- Student from Westmeath.
Trinity is the best place to study in Ireland.
- Student from Wexford.
