Geraldine Ruane

Geraldine Ruane joined Trinity College Dublin’s senior management team in 2013, taking up the role of Chief Operating Officer.

As Chief Operating Officer she has responsibility for 890 staff that comprise the Corporate Services Division. Corporate Services has been described as the university’s central nervous system, ensuring services and systems are run smoothly and efficiently, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

Geraldine’s previous leadership roles include Chief Executive, General Manager, Finance Director from across the commercial sector in areas including pharma, financial services and ICT. She has also served as Non-Executive Director for SFI (Science Foundation Ireland) and Genio Social Investments.

Since coming into office Geraldine has transformed the operational infrastructure of Trinity College Dublin, Ireland’s premier university, enabling it to become more agile and customer-centre in response to the demands of the 21st century.

On joining Trinity, Geraldine developed and implemented a strategy for the Corporate Services focusing on the key areas of commercial revenue, people development, service excellence and corporate governance.

Her impressive track record recently led her to being chosen as Chair of the steering committee for Trinity Technology and Enterprise Campus (TTEC) – a high-profile project of great strategic importance to the university. TTEC is the precursor to the Grand Canal Innovation District, a boldly ambitious plan for Ireland Inc launched by the Taoiseach last year (2018).

Geraldine is a qualified certified public accountant and qualified chartered director, with a deep functional knowledge of governance, risk, compliance and stakeholder management. She also holds an MA from Trinity College Dublin.
