Book of Kells Exhibition
In 2014/15 the Book of Kells had 769,448 visitors, up 16% on last year. In 2016, the Exhibition saw over 800,000 walk through its doors. In 2016/2017, we hope to grow that number ever further, introducing more visitors to the stunning Book of Kells, Ireland’s greatest cultural treasure, and the Old Library, one of the most magnificent libraries in the world.

What do Queen Elizabeth II, Mrs. Obama and her children, Vice President Joe Biden, Prince Charles, Sir David Attenborough, Hillary Clinton, President and Mrs. Carter, Al Pacino, Michael Palin, Bruce Springsteen, Pearce Brosnan and Julia Roberts all have in common? They have all visited the Book of Kells on their visits to Ireland. Apart from the wonderful smell of old books, you can visit the Brian Boru harp and one of the few remaining copies of the 1916 Proclamation in the Long Room – plenty of reasons to visit our iconic library.
The success of the online fast-track tickets this summer, with 33,211 being sold between June and September, has demonstrated that visitors want to avoid the queues and get immediate access to the beautiful exhibition and the magnificent Old Library. The online tickets ensure visitors have an enjoyable visit and help the College to maintain the Library for many years to come.
