POSTGRADUATE GLOBAL EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP
Award
Several scholarships valued at 5,000 euro each, applied as a reduction of the tuition fees of a full-time postgraduate taught program. There are several scholarships available.
Who can apply?
Applicants who have non-EU (international) status and will pay tuition fees at the non-EU rate. Applicants must have submitted an application to their chosen programme at Trinity College to be eligible.
Selection criteria
The scholarship will be assessed based on academic achievement, and evaluation of the applicants’ potential to contribute to the overall TCD community.
Scholarship application documents

  • Application number (assigned by TCD when application is submitted)
  • Up to 300 word statement on the topic of “How I will contribute to our Trinity College Dublin community”. Please submit in Microsoft word document or pdf format
  • CV or résumé.

Application process

  • Submit scholarship request and attach scholarship application documents no later than March 31st, 2017
  • Submit scholarship request as follows: Email Global Relations at international@tcd.ie  and ensure the subject line reads: your name and “Global Excellence PG Scholarships”
  • You will receive an acknowledgement of receipt of your scholarship request
  • No further communication until scholarship awards are made; awards will be made and successful candidates informed no later than April 21st , 2017
  • Decision to accept scholarship is required on May 5th  2017; along with acceptance of your offer to attend TCD and payment of your deposit
  • Successfully admitted scholarship students will agree to assist Trinity with occasional promotional activities
  • You will be responsible for formally accepting the scholarship offer by email reply to Global Relations at international@tcd.ie
  • Acknowledgement of receipt of scholarship acceptance will come within 72 hours
  • A non-response will be considered as declining the offer.

Trinity College Dublin are delighted offer a number of scholarships for Chinese nationals under the Claddagh Scholarship Programme. Ussher Fellowships are awarded competitively on academic merit. The Fellowship fully covers fees and provides a monthly maintenance of €13,000 for three years. The Fellowship is unrelated to teaching commitments. The application is made in conjunction with a PhD application. - Postgraduate Research Studentship

Postgraduate studentships are available to new entrants as well as continuing students on the full-time PhD register. The studentships are awarded competitively on academic merit. The postgraduate studentship fully covers fees and an annual maintenance of €6,500 for three years. Studentship holders are required to engage in teaching, as determined by the appropriate Director of Teaching and Learning. New entrants make their application in conjunction with their PhD application. Continuing students apply directly to their Schools. Nominations take place at various times of the year.

The Hamilton Scholars aims to produce a cohort of exceptional PhD students whose work is expected to have a significant international impact in their chosen area of specialisation.

The Hamilton Scholars focuses on fields where Trinity plays a leading role internationally such as Algebra and Number Theory, Analysis, Partial Differential Equations, Quantum Field Theory, Lattice Quantum Chromodynamics and String Theory. Scholarships will be awarded to PhD students of outstanding talent, from Ireland and internationally, who will be selected to study a key research theme within the disciplines of mathematics and theoretical physics.

Each Hamilton Scholar will receive individual research supervision with an internationally-renowned mathematician or theoretical physicist. The programme will also provide an exciting opportunity for the individual scholars to gain invaluable research and teaching experience, preparing them to take their place as academic leaders of the future.

Trinity Business School provides numerous scholarships to students from across the world in our commitment to develop outstanding global business leaders. Previous recipients come from a variety of countries and educational backgrounds but all displayed strong academic and personal achievements. 

Funding of up to €5,000 is available for students who have been accepted onto the MSc programmes. These are awarded by the Trinity Business School Scholarship committee to candidates who demonstrate a high level of academic achievement, extracurricular accomplishments or contribution to society. 

Scholarship applications must be made when submitting your application for a place on the programme. Download and complete the scholarship application form and submit as part of your application. 

The Trinity Business School Scholarship Selection Committee meets twice a year to assess applications. If you have been accepted onto your programme of choice, applicants will be notified when a scholarship decision has been made. Please note: no scholarships are awarded earlier than February 2017.

Hyman Tarlo Scholarship 2016/17

The Law School of Trinity College Dublin is pleased to announce the Hyman Tarlo Scholarship in Law for 2016/17. This scholarship is generously sponsored by Mrs Ruth Tarlo in memory of her late husband.

The Scholarship covers full LL.M non-EU tuition fees in academic year 2016/17, payable directly by the Law School to Student Finance, and a stipend of AUS$10,000. 

Applications are assessed competitively with the sole criteria for the granting of the scholarship being the proven academic merit of the candidate. The decision as to the recipient of the scholarship (which is made at school level) is at the exclusive discretion of the School of Law in Trinity College Dublin.

Kader Asmal Fellowship 2016/17
Open to South African or Zimbabwean nationals

This fellowship applies to Human Rights Law, specifically the LL.M (International and Comparative Law) at the School of Law, Trinity College Dublin, with candidates to be selected by the Council for the Advancement of the South African Constitution (CASAC). The Kader Asmal Fellowship will cover, amongst other costs, tuition fees, economy travel to and from your country of residence to Ireland, a monthly personal living allowance (stipend).

Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Masters Studentship 2016/17

The Law School is delighted to announce the establishment of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Masters Studentship. The value of the studentship is a 5,000 euro contribution towards LL.M tuition fees (EU or Non-EU) in academic year 2016/17. It is funded by the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Trinity College Dublin.

This studentship seeks to acknowledge the quality of entrants to our taught LL.M programmes and the on-going contribution of LL.M students to our Law School and Faculty of AHSS. It aims to support and develop gifted postgraduate students.

Eligibility

This studentship is available to new entrants (EU and Non-EU) to any of our four LL.M degrees, for admission in September 2016. In order to be eligible, applicants must hold and have officially accepted an Unconditional Offer of a place on one of these programmes by 31st July 2016.

Selection Criteria

Applications are assessed competitively with the sole criteria for the grant of the studentship being the proven academic merit of the candidate. It is accepted, however, that very many candidates with exceptional qualifications apply annually to the programme. Thus the decision as to the recipient of the studentship (which is made at School level) is at the exclusive discretion of the LL.M Course Director and LL.M Sub-Committee.

As only one studentship will be available in , LL.M applicants are strongly advised to apply for all other funding and grants open to them.
LL.M applicants are expected to apply for the renewal of any Local Authority Scholarship they may have held as undergraduates.

Conditions

This studentship is open to EU and Non-EU postgraduate students undertaking studies on one of our four LL.M degrees in 2016/17. It is offered subject to the following conditions:

  • The holder must engage in full-time study and must register for one LL.M degree at the Law School in academic year 2016/17;
  • The holder is required to engage in relevant academic activities as determined by the LL.M Course Director;
  • The holder must not be a simultaneous holder of other grants, or funding or other awards (or any other awards with a similar monetary value).

How do I apply?

LL.M Applicants who meet the above eligibility criteria and wish to be considered for this studentship must submit a one-page letter no later than 1 August 2016 indicating:

1. Full name and TCD application number (assigned by TCD when application is submitted);
2. Interest in being considered for the award;
3. The reasons why they believe such an award would be justified.

Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin and the China Scholarship Council affiliated with the Ministry of Education in China are offering a number of scholarships to Chinese students who wish to pursue a PhD at Trinity College Dublin. 
Trinity College Dublin are now inviting applications for the CSC-Trinity College Dublin Joint Scholarship Programme for 2017.
The Global Relations Office are happy to support interested students with their application. 

Each scholarship will include a full fee-waiver from Trinity, and a stipend for living costs, airfare and health insurance, provided by the CSC. 

How to apply

1. Find a potential Academic Supervisor 

  • Visit the webpage of the School in which you wish to conduct your research and identify an area of research in which you are interested.
  • Contact your potential Academic Supervisor outlining your research proposal – remember that this is a competitive process so your email should demonstrate your interest in the research area and any relevant experience that you have to date.

2. If the academic staff member is willing to support your application for a PhD position, he/she will direct you to the School’s online application page.

3. You will need to have the following documents ready to complete to the application process 
a. A detailed curriculum vitae 
b. University transcripts
c. Two academic references
d. A short research proposal
e. Copy of passport
f. Proof of English language
g. Any other evidence of your academic merit


It may be necessary to provide further details of academic modules you have taken (degree or MSc) to support your application.

Eligibility to apply for the CSC-Trinity College Dublin Joint Scholarship Programme

  • Applicants for the scholarship must be citizens of the People’s Republic of China (applicants do not have to be resident in China).
  • Applicants should hold an unconditional offer letter for PhD studies from Trinity College Dublin. Conditional offers letters may be accepted in certain circumstances (contact Ciara.rice@tcd.ie) for more information.

Trinity's Global Relations Office has announced a new funding opportunity through CNPq, which is available to Brazilian students interested in undertaking a PhD.  CNPq, Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - "National Counsel of Technological and Scientific Development" is funding a call for Brazilian students who want to complete a doctorate in a foreign university.  The deadline for application is January 29th 2016. 

The Global Relations Office is happy to support interested students with their application.   Should students have a good academic record and an interest in research, please contact our Regional Officer Antonio de Linares at antonio.delinares@tcd.ie who will be happy to assist with queries.  Please note that a Masters is not required to commence a PhD in Ireland.

1. It is necessary to find a Trinity academic supervisor, in order to secure CNPq funding.  It is suggested that the following the steps be undertaken in order to find a suitable supervisor:
Check the Trinity website www.tcd.ie to identify the area of research interest and the relevant Principal Investigator (PI). Some examples are below:

2. Students should then contact the relevant PI, including a CV and research topic.  It is necessary to show an understanding of the PI’s academic research, in order to secure their interest in acting as a supervisor.  When contacting a prospective supervisor, it is important to mention that the intention is to be fully funded by the Brazilian government.

Trinity College Dublin is proud to be the only Irish institution to qualify for inclusion in the Global Education Programme. The Global Education Programme funds postgraduate study for Russian citizens in qualifying higher education institutes around the world, and will last from 2014 to 2016. A maximum of RUB 1,381,800 will be made available to successful applicants for one academic year.

The Global Education Programme covers all expenses associated with the academic program, including tuition, living expenses, health insurance, books and roundtrip travel expenses.
Upon admission to a Masters or PhD programme at Trinity College Dublin, citizens of the Russian Federation may apply for funding through the Global Education programme. Upon graduation, participants must commit to employment in an organisation registered in the territory of the Russian Federation for three years.

+ Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme

- Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme

The Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme aims to support local students to pursue studies in world renowned universities outside Hong Kong, with a view to grooming a top cadre of talents with global vision, international network and world-class education, thereby contributing to enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness as Asia’s World City in a globalised knowledge economy. The scheme also seeks to support those students who have excellent academic achievement but lack the financial means to study in top-notch universities outside Hong Kong.

All awardees will receive a non-means-tested scholarship to cover their tuition fees, subject to a ceiling of HK$250,000 per annum, whichever is lower. In addition, a means-tested bursary will be granted to students who may need additional support to pursue their study, subject to a ceiling of HK$200,000 per student per annum.  The means-tested bursary will consist of two components, up to HK$50,000 per annum for covering tuition fee in excess of HK$250,000; and up to HK$150,000 per annum for covering living and other study-related expenses. Once awarded, a scholarship will last for the normal duration of the concerned programme in respect of undergraduate studies and up to two years in respect of all postgraduate studies.  It will be renewable annually subject to the provision of satisfactory documentary proof of the awardees’ good academic performance.

To be eligible for the HKSES, applicants are required to meet the following two criteria –
(a) have right of abode or right to land, or have entered Hong Kong on One-way Permits; and
(b) have resided in Hong Kong continuously for three complete years immediately prior to the commencement of the academic programme outside Hong Kong.

+ Mitchell Scholarship
Open to students from the United States
- Mitchell Scholarship

The George J Mitchell Scholarship Programme was established by the US-Ireland Alliance www.us-irelandalliance.org . The programme allows future American leaders to pursue a year of graduate study in Ireland and Northern Ireland. The programme's goal is to provide tomorrow's leaders with an understanding about, an interest in, and an affinity for the island of Ireland.

Up to twelve Mitchell Scholars between the ages of 18 and 30 are chosen annually for one year of postgraduate study in any discipline offered by institutions of higher learning in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Applicants are judged on three criteria:

  • scholarship,
  • leadership, and
  • a sustained commitment to community and public service.

The Mitchell Scholarship Program provides tuition, accommodation, a stipend for living expenses and travel.

Candidates for the Mitchell Scholarship Program must meet all the following criteria:

  • Be U.S. citizens 
  • Be 18 years of age or older, but not yet 30, on September 30 of the year of application (those who turn 30 on 1 October are not eligible).
  • Have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university before beginning study as a Mitchell Scholar. Degrees from international accredited universities are acceptable, if all other conditions are met.
  • While married applicants or applicants with partners are accepted, no allowance is made for the expenses of an applicant’s spouse, partner, or dependents. It is important to note that the relevant government agency may require spouses or partners who are non-EU citizens to enroll full-time and prove financial resources for the year or to obtain a work permit before seeking paid employment in Ireland or Northern Ireland. Please check with the Department of Foreign Affairs (Ireland) or the British Council (UK) for details.

Associação Brasileira de Estudos Irlandeses (ABEI) and Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin (Trinity) would like to announce the opening of a selection process for students of Brazilian institutions interested in a grant for a Masters program in Irish Studies at Trinity, Ireland (2017-2018), in the following fields of research:

 

The grant will cover one year worth of international tuition fee (September 2017-2018), accommodation, travel costs and living expenses for a total value of €35,000.

An examining board designated by W.B. Yeats Chair of Irish Studies/USP will announce on 8th May 2017 up to four best candidates according to their academic merit and previous interview.  
Those selected will be assessed by Trinity, whose board, formed by the Directors of the courses afore mentioned, will announce the winner of the HADDAD FELLOWSHIP scholarship by 15th June 2017.

Obligations
- The selected candidate should present to ABEI a short report when completed the first 6 months and the results of the final MA dissertation at his/her return to Brazil.
- Once graduated, the researcher should participate in ABEI events presenting the results of his/her work at TCD and collaborate as an active member of the society.

1. General enrolment requirements:

- At the time of registration, the student must have finished their undergraduate degree or be regularly enrolled in a post graduate course and have finished at least one module;
- The student must have an average higher than 7 for undergraduates or an A or B for post-graduates.
- The student must not be taking part in an exchange program.
- The student needs to be a member of ABEI and be up-to-date with the annual payment www.abei.org.
- The student should include their Trinity application number on their application. They are welcome to apply before they have received an offer of admission, however they will only be eligible to receive the scholarship if they receive an offer of admission from Trinity.

    • Required documents:


- Registration form (available at CCInt-FFLCH's website);
- Letter of interest in English stating why the student choses the program, their academic interests and how his/her research project (abstract of the proposal) or the ongoing study program will benefit (maximum 3 pages or 1500 words);
- A recent academic paper written in English (maximum 7 pages or 3000 words);
- English proficiency certificate. Trinity accepts the following proficiency exams if they had been taken within two years of the date of the application:

  • IELTS: Grade 6.5 (No section less than 6.0)
  • TOEFL: 88 - iBT, 230 - Computer based, 570 - paper based
  • University of Cambridge: 180+ on Cambridge English scale with no less than 175 in each skill and use of English i.e.
  • Proficiency Certificate, Grade C or better (CEFR Level C1 or C2) Advanced Certificate, Grade C or better (CEFR Level C1 or C2) First Certificate, Grade A (CEFR Level C1)#
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic) - PTE Academic: a minimum score of 63 (with no section score below 59)

-  Updated student undergraduate (and postgraduate) transcript from Sistema Jupiterweb or Janusweb, or from another Brazilian University; 
- Curriculum Vitae (student must present their Curriculum Lattes);
- Two reference letters written in English sent to ccint.fflch@usp.br ;
- A copy of the student's passport which must be valid at least until the end of the exchange program.

La Beca está dirigida a profesionales peruanos con residencia en el Perú, que hayan obtenido el grado académico de bachiller o el título profesional de Licenciado y haber pertenecido al tercio superior o su equivalente, como mínimo, durante toda la carrera de pregrado; de insuficientes recursos económicos y buen perfil profesional y/o de investigación.

In 2017-18 all applicants will automatically be considered for the following awards:

  1. The Constantia Maxwell Faculty Studentship, with a value of 5000 euro is offered to a student in any of the School's M.Phil. programmes. This may be put towards fees or living expenses.
  2. The School of Histories and Humanities also offers one bursary of 1000 euro, to be deducted from the course fees, for each of its seven M.Phil. programmes.

Awards will be made on academic merit. All completed applications with an unconditional offer by the deadline of May 31st, 2017 will be considered.
