English Language Support Programme
Website: www.elsp.ie
When the English Language Support Programme started there were some 18,000 primary pupils and 8,000 post-primary students whose first language was neither English nor Irish.
This programme developed a practical and cost-effective approach to the teaching of English as a second language in post-primary schools. Its outcomes included research insights into the language learning difficulties experienced by newcomer students and a substantial bank of teaching and learning resources which are now available on www.elsp.ie
