The 29th Public Lecture & Meeting of the Irish Environmental History Network featured a lecture by Dr. Derek Gladwin of the University of British Columbia, entitled "'Ya can't trust em': Shifting Ecological Perspectives of Literary and Cultural Peatlands".

The lecture took place in Trinity College Dublin in the Ui Chadhain Theatre, Arts Block, from 4.45pm to 6pm.

A short bio for Dr. Gladwin: Dr Derek Gladwin is the James M. Flaherty Visiting Scholar through the Ireland Canada University Foundation at Trinity College Dublin's Environmental Humanities Initiative. His research explores transformations in environment and society within 20th-/21st-Century British and Irish literature, as well as film and media culture. He is also a SSHRC Postdoctoral Research Fellow in English at the University of British Columbia. He has previously held visiting research fellowships at the National University of Ireland, Galway, University of Edinburgh, and Concordia University (Montreal). Gladwin's books include: Contentious Terrains (2016), Unfolding Irish Landscapes (co-ed, 2016), and Eco-Joyce (co-ed, 2014); he is currently completing a book about spatial injustice and the environmental humanities, which is due out with Routledge in 2017.
