Topic: 'A Caring Society? Care and the Dilemmas of Human Service in the 21st Century'
Speaker: Professor Michael Fine, Deputy Director, Centre for Research on Social Inclusion, Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia
Location: Room 2043 (Davis Lecture Theatre) on the ground floor in the Arts Building in Trinity College
Outline: Care is no longer a private concern. In the 21st century, characterised by population ageing, family fragmentation and the entry of women into the paid workforce, it has become a major public issue. Prof Fine offers a systematic, comparative analysis of emergent practices and policies of care in the context of the political economy of post-industrial societies.
