Professor Linda Rosenmanhas just completed nine years as Executive Dean of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences at The University of Queensland in Australia. Prior to Linda's appointment in 1997 as Executive Dean of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Linda was President of The University of Queensland Academic Board (1994-96), Deputy President (1993) and Head of the Department of Social Work and Social Policy (1987-92). Linda studied and worked in academic, research and management positions in the tertiary education sector in the USA for 20 years before returning to Australia in 1987.

Linda has carried out research and published widely on older women, retirement incomes policy, and policy and practice supporting carers. Her current funded research program with a multidisciplinary team from social work, social policy, law and finance has focused upon assets, aging and carers. The research has resulted in publications on financial abuse of older people, reconceptualising caring to encompass asset management, legal contexts for substitute decision making. The team has also received funding to set up demonstration projects on the role of private financial institutions in identifying financial abuse and mismanagement and engaging the community in protection of older people from financial mismanagement and financial abuse.
