Plant Developmental Genetics

Welcome to Our Laboratory

Welcome to the website of our Plant Developmental Genetics laboratory. Our laboratory is part of the Smurfit Institute, which is home to the Department of Genetics at Trinity College Dublin.

In our laboratory, we are addressing fundamental questions in developmental biology: how are complex organs formed from small sets of undifferentiated precursor cells? And what are the molecular mechanisms that contribute to the regulation of development and how have these mechanisms evolved? For this work we are using plants as a model system.
In addition to conducting fundamental research, we are also trying to translate some of our findings to agriculture to produce new, improved crop varieties. For further information about our work, please visit our research site.
