Department of Germanic Studies Careers Night

Have you ever wondered what it is really like to work as an accountant or a translator or a journalist?

The Careers Night takes place in January of each year and provides you with an opportunity to find out what graduates of this department and other language graduates have done since leaving college. We also invite speakers who value the range of skills brought by graduates of the department to the workplace. The speakers will give you an overview of their own career paths and an insight into what their daily work is really like. They can also give you information and advice on how to go about getting into a particular profession. After the presentations, you can quiz the speakers at an informal reception.

Speakers from previous Careers Nights include:

Caroline Nash (IBEC/European Orientation Programme)
John Bolton (Marketing Executive, Enterprise Ireland)
Joan O'Connor (Translator)
Noel Clehane (Accountant, BDO Simpson Xavier)
Cliodhna Egan (Third Secretary, Dept. of Foreign Affairs)
Adrienne Cawley (Barrister at Law)
Declan Byrne (Consultant, Andersen)
Claire Cunningham (Freelance Journalist/Editor)
