Plant Developmental Genetics

Welcome to Our Laboratory

Welcome to the website of our Plant Developmental Genetics laboratory. Our laboratory is part of the Smurfit Institute, which is home to the Department of Genetics at Trinity College Dublin. We are studying different aspects of developmental biology using the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana as an organismal system.

Research Interests

In the laboratory, we are trying to answer fundamental questions in developmental biology: how are complex organs formed from small sets of undifferentiated precursor cells and what are the genes and molecular mechanims that contribute to the regulation of development?
We are especially interested in understanding the architecture and composition of the gene regulatory networks underlying flower formation. A second line of research concentrates on the role of protein degradation in plant development.
For our research, we are using a combination of molecular genetics, genomics, and biochemistry. For further information about our work, please visit our research site.
