Environment Society celebrate Green Week with local school
February 2012
The Trinity Environment Society have teamed up with Larkin Community College (just off O’Connell St.) and the Central Model Senior School to help them get the “Green Flag” through co-operation, smart waste management and gardening, while also exploring responsible attitudes towards sustainable living and volunteer work. Transition Year students from Larkin came on campus for the College's 10th annual Green Week, with their teacher Mary Conway, and took part in a planting workshop alongside students and staff.

Green Week took place from the 20th to 24th of February to celebrate nature and giving staff, students and visitors the opportunity to share ideas on how to protect the environment, within and outside College. Several nature events took place over the week including guided walks where participants learned about the birds, trees and buildings in College and how they can be affected by human activity. Other events aimed at finding ways of minimising environmental impact included the Simon Perry memorial symposium, a debate, and a competition for the best environmental initiative.
