National Volunteer Awards Deadline October 1st

September 2010

The Ireland Involved Awards is part of a European-wide initiative to recognise the work of volunteers. The awards honour ten outstanding individuals in ten different categories from social work and the environment, to international development. The overall Ireland Involved Volunteer of the Year will then go on to represent Ireland at the European Volunteer of the Year Awards on International Volunteer Day (5 th December). Last year, the Irish Volunteer of the Year, Christine Buckley was also presented with the top award in France last December.

‘The Ireland Involved awardees are ordinary people who do extraordinary things. They are people of courage, determination, passion, commitment, hunger for justice, hunger for change. They are the ones who are prepared to put their time and energies where their values and convictions lie. They are the change makers and role models and we badly need their stories to be told so that the message can go out that our actions matter. People need to know that we can make a positive difference in the lives of one another and the world we live in' -Elaine Bradley, CEO Volunteering Ireland.

Entering a colleague, friend or family member is simple. Check out www.irelandinvolved.ie to nominate online before October 1st. The finalists will be honoured at a gala dinner in November where the 2010 Irish Volunteer of the Year will be announced.
