The principal activity currently being undertaken is the project by Government of Ireland Fellow Dr Sylvie Kleinman on ‘Theobald Wolfe Tone in France and French-Occupied Europe, 1796-1798: A Cultural
Perspective’. This book-length project will fill a gap in scholarship on Tone by examining the cultural dimension of his life and travels during the last three years of his life, cross-referencing his own writings with contemporary sources. The '1798 Project' hosted a one-day seminar on Tone in the Royal Irish Academy in April 2008 to mark the publication by Oxford University press of the final volume of the Works of Theobald Wolfe Tone, edited by T.W.Moody, R.B.McDowell & C.J.Woods.
