International Tinnitus Research Initiative Conference 2023 - Engineering the Future of Tinnitus by Bridging Academia, Industry, Medicine and Society
Tinnitus is a debilitating disorder that affects about 10-15% of the population. Care and research in tinnitus is a multidisciplinary approach spanning different fields like audiology, psychology, psychiatry, engineering, surgery, pharmacology, Data Science, digital technology etc. The Irish landscape for multidisciplinary tinnitus care and research is sparse and practically non-existent. It calls for the integration of existing resources and the need for an increase in public awareness, community and radical international collaborations between academics, clinicians, entrepreneurs and the people with lived experience of tinnitus. Through this conference, we aspire to join hands with experts from emerging scientific fields such as big data science, personalized medicine, neuroinflammation, genetics etc. who can give us insights about their successful translations from bench to bedside. We also aspire to open new avenues of research, clinical practices, and patient engagement strategies in tinnitus, setting us on a path of disruptive innovation, not just in Ireland, but all over the world.
