The Book of Kells Creative Competition 2018 has launched!

Book of Kells Creative Competition Judge and child in the Long Room at the Old LibraryThe Book of Kells Creative Competition 2018 has opened for entries and this year’s theme is animals in the Book of Kells. The deadline to enter is 30th November 2018 and the competition is open to all ages.

There are two competition categories Art and Writing. If art is your passion you are invited to create a drawing, sketch or painting inspired by the scribes use of images of animals. If writing is your medium you are invited to write a poem or short story centred on the animals in the manuscript.

Prizes range from VIP trips to cash prizes of up to €800. All winners and runners up will be invited to attend an exciting awards ceremony in the stunning Trinity College Dublin campus.

Now is the time to get your paint brushes and pens out, and create a drawing or painting, poem or short story based on the images of animals from the world’s most famous medieval manuscript.
