2019 Competition

For the second year in a row Trinity College Dublin has been inundated with hundreds of incredible pieces of creative writing and art for the annual, nationwide, Book of Kells Creative Competition. The judges were astounded with the phenomenal talent that was shown by over 1,600 entries from budding artists and writers of all ages, with the most senior winner aged 82 years of age. Entries were received from across Ireland and also from the US, UK, throughout Europe and even as far as Australia!

The competition is now open for 2019 and the theme will be ‘Irish Culture and The Book of Kells’. The closing date will be November 30th 2019 and further information will be available in the coming weeks on this website.

Categories: Primary schools, secondary schools and adults (18+)
Theme: Irish Culture and The Book of Kells
Prizes: Cash prizes for individuals, schools and clubs

Art Competition

Create a drawing, painting or sketch inspired by Irish culture and the Book of Kells in a modern and innovative way and submit your entry for a chance to win.

Writing Competition

Write a poem or short story inspired by Irish culture and the Book of Kells and submit your entry for a chance to win.

Competition Prizes

There is a range of fantastic prizes to be won in each category for individuals, schools and clubs & societies including cash prizes, VIP trips, certificates of merit and a special invitation to the awards ceremony in Trinity College Dublin.
